The weather was fabulous today. We left with a big smile on our face.
Bye bye Zumberk, we are heading to Austria
Nove Hrady is the name of the last Czech town we passed
On the road for nine days
The skies were looking strange
We passed a nice lake
The town Nove Hrady
There was a very steep 12% climb over cobbles right before the town. A pedestrian was following us with his eyes and he was thinking: they will never be able to cycle up that hill. We proved him wrong!
More south Bohemian country roads...
Just your average Tuesday morning in south Czechia
Ceske Velenice was indicated on those wooden signs. That;s where we were heading...
Our next step on the map, cycling to Ceske Velenice, the border town with Austria.
I had cycled these routes before in the summer of 2016. I even spent the night in this town Ceske Velenice. The next day I rode across Austria and back to Brno, where I took a train back to Prague
We visited one last shop in Czechia and then we entered Austria
Country 5 of the trip. We are moving like a train
Gmund in Austria is the first town we came across. I cycled here before
Even this lake was very familiar to me
Austrian architecture looked the same like its Czech counterpart
Everything looks so bright and shiny in summer time
We were at more than 500m elevation and the Donau would be around 0, but still we were climbing. I had no idea how long this would last
Route 37... We had to follow this one for a long time. I wasn't a big fan of this with the heavy traffic but we checked the maps and there was no alternative. Roger cycled behind me and we just got it over with. Krems an der Donau was our goal for today.
Sometimes there were some bike lanes, but in general Route 37 was not a lot of fun
This was about the last hill before we dropped all the way down to the Donau
We dropped all the way down to sea level and entered the city Krems an der Donau. It was still quite early.
Roger saw a Chinese restaurant and he wanted to eat there. So we got familiar with China town in Austria. They were from the city of |Wenzhou.
After dinner and a long break, it was time to find a camping spot. We continued further east and looked for a nice spot along the Donau
The sunset over these fields was gorgeous, especially with the sun flowers
Roger was getting ecstatic about it
Wrapping up day 9, good job
Summer sunset
This was a lovely camp spot, neatly located in between the river and the road, with big distance between both. Nobody was out here and we could firmly lock the bikes against that iron construction.
