The courtesy of the lovely Hungarian family carried on the next day as they made us a tasty breakfast. After that, they off course needed to go to work.
Erdely Gyozo, the name of our new friend. He added our facebook and he would be following our journey
Our photo shoot before take off. It is so nice to make friends during the trip. It brings out the best in people
Solt... the road in Hungary carries on. We went further south on the European map
Eurovelo Route 6 was our compass. Actually this route across Europe is pretty amazing
And obviously the weather was great
Bicycle paths along Eurovelo 6
Crossing the Donau once again
What a bright sun! What a gorgeous day! And I am spending it cycling in South Hungary. How cool is this!!
The very wide Donau, one of Europe's main arteries
Bart and Roger on the road for the third week. The white stuff on my face is sun cream btw
The road south... Places in Croatia (Hrvatska) indicated already
Wide roads. The first place we were heading for today was Paks.
It was fairly flat today, no too intensive
Clear blue skies
Place names of Southern Hungary. I pay great attention to all these geographic notes. This is one big field trip without exam
We arrived in Paks and tried to look for a shop to buy a tent for Roger. Unfortunately we did not find anything, so we moved on...
My heavy travel bike. Two weeks of pedaling every day and I got used to it
Inside the city of Paks
And we moved on...
There were a few hills in the road to our big astonishment
Great to have a travel companion
Next city on the map is Szekszardi
Map of Hungary
This small field road was very enjoyable. It lasted for 15 km
I occasionally had to wait for Roger, but that was more than ok. Not once did my total distance suffer because of it
Roger on his great flatbar bike, which perfectly survived the crash yesterday
Late in the afternoon...with already more than 100km accumulated
Hungary's route 56
and the sun was setting
Entering a new province of Hungary
We entered the city of Mohacs in the evening
Mohacs is a very interesting place. 500 years ago there was a big clash between Hapsburg and the Turkish, who had come this deep into Europe. Hapsburg repelled them all the way back to Anatolia and Hapsburg and Prussia stayed in power in Europe.
In the city we made some friends. These two were from Luxembourg and they informed us on everything there was to know about this place. They recognized that we were foreigners and that made it interesting for them. I love the magic that surrounded this summer moment, where contacts were easily made and people were friendly. Great days!
During dinner, we met the same three German cyclists from the day before. We had dinner together and chatted a lot. This was truly a lovely moment of the trip. These guys were cycling to the end of the Donau route, which is in East Roamnia near the Black Sea. They were envious of my trip hehe.
