I had a very important task in Vienna today. I needed to get my third and final rabies shot. I had gotten 2 of them in Prague and I needed the third one before I would enter Romania and Central Asia, where wild dogs pose a real danger. So we cycled to the vaccination center in Vienna that was fairly close to our hotel.
Roger was kind enough to wait outside while I was queuing inside. Felt a little guilty about that, but he had stuff to do for his company.
It went smooth, the shot cost 60 euro and the doctor told me to not do any heavy physical activities today. So we decided to only do the very flat section to Bratislava
We navigated through the city center of Vienna searching for the connection to the Donauradweg
It wasn't hard to find the Donau
And off we went. Today we would leave Austria and enter Slovakia
The weather was amazing, as good as summer gets in Europe
One of the many Donau crossings
Mid July in Austria
Two brave cyclists that are in the middle of a lengthy task
Glad to see Roger was enjoying himself
Eurovelo 6 route
Donau blue
Some people were just laying there butt naked... even women wtf...
The road wasn't difficult, just flat and straight. Roger and I had a lot of conversation topics. In that sense it was a relaxing ride
The last stretches within Austria
Bratislava in 42 km
Beautiful scenery, I loved it
We entered the town of Schonau looking for a shop. We needed foods and drinks
And after that visit to the warehouse, we hit the Donay path again. Some sections were not paved
The next bridge
This was a very long bridge
Cycling tourism is big here, a lot of infrastructure
17 km to Bratislava...
Summer fields
The roads were turning into Slovakian quality
cute
Approaching the border
Welcome to Slovakia, country 6 of the trip
Roger in Slovakia
The Slovak republic joined the European Union in 2004
We cycled along the Incheba exposition hall. I have come here a few times with my mom for a dog show, driving from Belgian to Slovakia in one day. Standing here now on a bike was a very special feeling.
Another Donau crossing
In the city center of Bratislava we were looking for our hostel. I recognized it all from a cycling trip I did in September 2016. I cycled from Prague to Bratislava in 2 days, covering 430 km. I went back with the 18.00h train. That was a very mythical ride. Now, different times. I cycled here on my travel bike from Belgium together with Roger Liu and I would stay the night in Bratislava. Narmin came over from Prague as well.
Roger in Bratislava.
