2. 04/07/17 The Rhine cycling paths that lead to Koblenz and Nassau

135km, 7h14, 538hm

The first night of camping was a bit strange: I had never camped in my life and I was feeling a bit uneasy about it. The night in the forest went well and we left for day 2.

First camping ever 30 years old. Better late than never

We packed up our bikes and continued

Roger also slept well in his tent

Today we were aiming for Koblenz

We took off and started chatting about many things

I just entered place names in the GPS and it would tell us which way to go. Obviously we closely studied the map to be sure

Relaxing bike path in the early morning

We stopped for a breakfast of sandwiches we bought in a supermarket

Progressing on the German roads

This was my 5th time cycling across Germany, but this time was very different. That magical feeling of being out in the nature was very special

Beautiful summer day

Camera and GPS

German style architecture

Roger was carrying the paper map in hs front bag

To avoid big traffic, we occasionally stopped to look for smaller roads.

That's how we found this river bed cycling path

Am Kurpark

Sexy looking travel bike

Picturesque

We cycled to Neuwied and Koblenz and connected to the Rhine river

Beautiful summer day along the Rhine. We saw many other bike packers and tourists

The road to Koblenz

Andernach and Koblenz were on our route

These routes are very popular among cycling tourists

In Koblenz, we formally crossed the river

Crossing the Rhine is a first achievement within Germany.

Passing through the Koblenz city center

In the afternoon, we decided we would aim for Nassau. We would camp somewhere down there

A bike trail along a small river led the way to Nassau.

Lahn Radweg.

We arrived in Nassau around 18:00 and had a salad in a cozy Italian place. After that, we started camp site hunting. We found something way better than expected:

A beautiful camp spot along a deserted trail with view over a tiny castle. This was a wonderful place to spend the night

A very productive and successful second day
